Many women are unsure of what the best timing is to conceive a child. The key to figuring out when you can get pregnant is to know when you will ovulate. Even if you aren’t sure, regular intercourse will increase your chances.

Although the answer is fairly straightforward, many women still find themselves wondering, "When can i get pregnant?" Despite some of the scare tactics used to prevent teenagers from engaging in sexual behavior, it isn’t really true that you can become pregnant at any point during your cycle.

A woman is capable of becoming pregnant when she is ovulating. Because sperm can live for several days in the vagina and uterus, the timing during which a woman can get pregnant spans a space of a few days before ovulation to a day or so afterwards.

Knowing when to get pregnant involves being aware of your cycle and knowing what the signs are that ovulation is approaching. Look for cervical mucus that resembles the white of a raw egg – it will be clear and stretchy. This is a sign that your body is getting ready to ovulate, and is producing mucus that is favorable for transporting sperm to the egg.

If you are wondering how to conceive a girl or how to conceive a boy, this may affect the timing of your attempts at conception. No matter which gender you would prefer, however, the period during which a woman is fertile and able to get pregnant doesn’t change.

Because the exact timing of ovulation can be difficult to predict, many experts recommend engaging in intercourse regularly from early on in your cycle. There is no reason to wait until you see the signs of ovulation; if you have been having regular intercourse, by the time you are aware you are ovulating, you may already be on your way to a pregnancy!
